Order African Drum

The art of making African drums is a tradition passed down through generations. Using the same ancestral knowledge developed by African communities over centuries, Philippe Lincy proudly applies these traditional methods in his workshop today

Since moving to Australia and performing African music professionally, Philippe has been frequently asked to build and repair African drums. In response, he now handcrafts African drums in Australia, using authentic techniques and carefully selected materials imported from Africa.

Each drum is made with deep respect for tradition. Knowledge, patience, and precision are essential elements in the drum-making process, ensuring outstanding sound quality, strength, and long-term durability. Every instrument is designed not only to be played, but to last for many years.

Philippe’s drums reflect the true spirit of African percussion—powerful, resonant, and alive with cultural meaning.

Shell Materials (The Body)

The shells come from abroad, from West Africa, and are handmade. Lenke wood is the most commonly used wood for making drums in the region.
